Annotation

The article identifies and analyzes the reasons for the confrontation between the leader of the largest Black Hundred party of the Russian Empire, the Union of the Russian People, A. I. Dubrovin, and the chairman of the Council of Ministers, P. A. Stolypin. Based on the achievements of modern Russian historiography and sources, a significant part of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the nuances of the relationship between the leader of the black hundred and the prime minister, their specifics, the reasons for the transformation and the circumstances that led to the antagonism between Dubrovin and Stolypin are shown. It is believed that the conflict between them was inevitable, since after the suppression of the 1905 revolution, disagreements arose between the head of government and the leader of the Union of the Russian People on almost all fundamental issues of state and political life. Dubrovin and Stolypin, being monarchists, patriots and statesmen, strongly differed in their ideas about political tactics, the place and role of the bureaucracy and the Black Hundred unions, and most importantly, in their understanding of the measures necessary to strengthen the monarchical system and protect the interests of the Russian people. As a result, the ideological and political confrontation, exacerbated by the clash of two independent and stubborn characters, turned Dubrovin and Stolypin into irreconcilable antagonists, leading to a protracted conflict that caused significant harm to both the Black Hundred movement and the government.
