Annotation

The article outlines the complex evolution of the formation of B. Yeltsin’s political regime and the new Russian statehood (according to the 1993 Constitution) from December 1993 to the summer of 1996, identifying and disclosing their features. The relevance of this study is to find all the bottlenecks in the basis of modern Russian statehood (which, in our opinion, are responsible for the fact that Russia has not yet led to prosperity and world leadership), the foundation and “scaffolding” of which was installed precisely during this period: from 1993 to 1996. The work, through an analysis of the formation of a peripheral model of capitalism, reveals the reasons and factors for the establishment of an oligarchic-authoritarian political system in Russia in the 90s, which was very far from democratic standards. The complete triumph of oligarchic liberalism combined with authoritarianism does not at all lead the country to democracy, as the practice of life in Russia in the 90s proved. XX century Moreover, liberal authoritarianism in its “pure form” in the interests of the narrow bureaucratic and large commercial New Russian nobility in the capital and regions rejects democracy, strengthens separatism (the failed war in Chechnya), leads the majority of the population to impoverishment and socio-economic inequality, and transforms the country itself into a semi-colonial appendage of the West with a population dying out at the rate of 1 million people a year.
