Ethical Requirements for the Editorial Board

The editorial board of the journal MCU Journal of Historical Studies operates in accordance with current legal and regulatory requirements governing this type of activity, as well as the ethical principles recognized by the international community of scholarly publishers, namely:

  • respect for copyright and confidentiality when handling submitted materials;
  • inadmissibility of plagiarism and defamation;
  • objectivity at the stage of preliminary manuscript evaluation;
  • commitment to high scientific quality of published materials;
  • protection of freedom of opinion and academic position.

Ethical Requirements for Reviewers

The expert evaluation of all materials submitted to the editorial office is carried out by reviewers—qualified specialists in the subject matter of the materials under review, who have published on the relevant topic within the past three years.

A reviewer guarantees the conduct of academic, objective, and impartial peer review of the submitted work.

A reviewer undertakes not to disclose or use any information contained in the reviewed article that the editorial office considers strictly confidential.

A reviewer must refuse to review a manuscript in the following cases:

  • the subject of the research lies outside the reviewer’s scientific interests;
  • there are reasons preventing the review from being completed within the established deadlines.

In the event of detecting plagiarism or any other unauthorized borrowing, the reviewer must immediately notify the editorial office.

Ethical Requirements for Authors

An author submitting a manuscript for publication in Vestnik MGPU. Series “Historical Sciences”. MCU Journal of Historical Studies guarantees that:

  • the submitted manuscript is not under consideration in other publications;
  • the text provided is original, and no parts of it have been previously published in other outlets (print or electronic) in an amount exceeding 30 %;
  • all participants who contributed to the research are listed as co-authors;
  • no individuals who did not participate in the conducted research are included as co-authors;
  • there are no forms of unauthorized borrowing, and any use of other authors’ research results is properly cited in accordance with current copyright law;
  • citations, documents, and other data forming the basis of the work are accurately represented, and the selection of factual material is carried out with scientific integrity;
  • the article contains no offensive language, extremist materials, or information classified as state secrets or otherwise legally restricted.

In the event of detecting an error in their text, the author must immediately notify the editorial office to jointly take measures to correct it.
