Annotation
This article examines the participation of Cossacks of the 7th Siberian Cossack Regiment in the revolutionary events of late October – early November 1917 in Moscow.
The 7th Siberian Cossack Regiment was sent from the front to the Moscow Military District in August 1917, and its squadrons, commands, and headquarters were stationed in various settlements. During the Bolshevik armed uprising in Moscow, the Siberian Cossacks came under the command of Colonel K. I. Ryabtsev, commander of the Moscow Military District, and were used to fight the rebels. Based on historical sources, the locations of Cossack squadrons were determined, and instances of Cossack assistance to anti-Bolshevik forces in Moscow were revealed. It is concluded that some Cossack squadrons actively participated in the first days of armed struggle in the city, which subsequently gave way to neutrality and cooperation with the new revolutionary authorities.
