Annotation
This article is dedicated to the phenomenon of dachas, dacha recreation, and the activities of the urban population of the Russian Empire during the post-reform period.
It was during this time that the distinctive features of urban residents’ country life and the fashionable dacha lifestyle began to take shape. A particular emphasis is placed
on the aspect of creating and broadcasting the image of dacha recreation in both metropolitan and provincial press. The study examines the portrayal of leisure activities at «dacha» (summer cottage) retreats in domestic media, focusing on the organization of seasonal physical activities in provincial areas—incorporating the culture of dacha theater and games — and methods for promoting health and wellness. A database of narratives from advertising proposals and journalistic materials has been compiled, including news articles, informational triggers, seasonal demand trends, and the diversity of commercial content from the publications “Peterburgskiy listok” and “Moskovskiy listok.” In conclusion, the thesis is confirmed that a stable specialized direction in dacha themes has emerged in print advertising, the press, and commercial circles.
