Annotation
The article is written on an urgent topic, it examines the role of the processes of resettlement of various population groups to the territory of the steppe Pre-Caucasus. The purpose of the article is to explore the significance of the processes of resettlement of the Slavic and non-Slavic population in the development of the Caucasus region by Russia, the role of various groups of immigrants in this process. According to the results of the study, it was proved that the largest social group of migrants were state peasants, they also played the most significant role in the economic development of the region; Cossacks also played an important role, taking part in both economic processes and in protecting the territory from raids.
