Annotation
The article examines the activities of the Minister-Chairman of the Provisional Government of Prince G. E. L’vov in March – July 1917 to resolve problems related to Ukrainian autonomy. As a result of the conducted research, various variants of the behavior of the minister-chairman in interaction with Ukrainian national organizations, including the Central Rada, have been identified. One of the reasons for the concessions of the Provisional Government on the issue of Ukrainian autonomy was the desire to ensure the stability of the rear and the controllability of the front in the conditions of the successfully developing summer offensive of 1917. This and the preservation of the territorial integrity of Russia before the start of the Constituent Assembly were the main tasks of the Prince L’vov, for which he was ready to compromise on the Ukrainian issue.
