Annotation
Annotation. The article deals with the military aspects of the most adventurous and daring enterprise of Tsar Peter I — the Prut campaign of 1711. The military campaign
of 1711 became the central event of the Russian-Turkish war of 1710–1713. The Prut campaign, which ended in failure, led not only to the defeat of Russia in the war with the Ottomans in 1710–1713, but also to the loss of previously achieved results during the Azov campaigns of 1795–1796. The article gives a brief analysis of the reasons for the declaration of war by Turkey against Russia in 1710. Considers the diplomatic preparation of the Russian side for the war, including the intention to involve the ruler of Wallachia Konstantin Brynkovyan and the Polish king Augustus II in it. Reveals the features of the conduct of hostilities by the Russian army in the Danubian principalities, including in the battle near the village of Stanileshti, the reasons for the failure of the 1711 campaign and the conclusion of a peace treaty as a result of it are revealed.
