Annotation
The unsuccessful attack of the Galatians on Delphi turned out to be the key event of Brennus’ expedition to Macedonia and Greece in 279 BC and predetermined its failure. The article examines the peculiarities of the armed confrontation in the Delphi area, as well as the reasons for the failure of the Galatians’ attack on Delphi. The description
of the military actions allows us to approximately determine the locations in which the military operations took place. The specifics of the fighting in the mountains, as well as
the weather conditions, allow us to explain the stories in the sources about the supernatural phenomena that accompanied the attack on the sanctuary.
