Annotation

The article examines the attitude of the Russian right-wingers of the early 20th century to the revolutionary events in China in 1911–1912. For this purpose, the author has studied materials of periodical printed publications (eleven titles), from both extreme right and moderate right political associations, as well as journalistic works of conservative authors. The research described the views of the Russian right-wingers on the causes of the Xinhai Revolution, analyzed their attitude to the elimination of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic in China, and noted that there were no serious differences in the views of the extreme right-wingers and nationalists on the revolutionary events in China. The research also revealed the reasons for the formation of the opinion of the Russian right-wingers on the meaning of the Xinhai Revolution for Russia and on the question of recognition of independence of Mongolia. In the article much attention is paid to the xenophobic idea of the “yellow peril”, shared by the Russian right-wingers of the early 20th century and contributing to their ambitious forecasts of the potential of the Russian Empire in the Far East with the weakening of China as a result of the Xinhai Revolution.
