Annotation
At the beginning of the XXI century, the problem of aggravation of interethnic conflicts in different parts of our planet is again relevant. One of them is the Turkish-Kurdish confrontation, which has been going on for almost 40 years. This article discusses the influence of the Kurdish factor on key aspects of the foreign policy of the Republic of Turkey in the late XX – early XXI centuries, such as relations with neighboring countries, primarily with Iraq and Syria, as well as with European countries and the United States. The author gives a detailed review of the key events in Turkey’s foreign policy related to the Kurdish issue in the 80–90s XXth century – the beginning of the XXIst century, both military and diplomatic. At the end of the article, it is concluded that at present the Kurdish factor is one of the fundamental instruments of Turkey’s foreign policy, using which it methodically achieves its goals.
