About Bull Sacrifice in the Pyramid Texts

The article «On the offering of bull in the Pyramid Texts» is the scientific research of the Utterance 580 from the Pyramid Texts. The purpose of this work is to translate into Russian the text of the Utterance 580, give commentary on it and try to reveal its sacral meaning. In the course of research the author represents general historiographic survey and pays much attention to the main contents of the story about the god Osiris. Basing on the scientific investigation of the context of the Utterance 580 the author came to the conclusion that the ritual of the offering of bull has got mythological interpretation as the ceremony of «crossing the lake» which the king — personification of the got Horus — had to perform for his father — personification of the god Osiris. The deep study of the text lead to the following conviction concerning the deep sacral meaning of this ceremony: conducting the rite of the offering of bull the living king — the god Horus — helped his deceased father — Osiris — to pass to the other world, resurrect from the dead for the afterlife. Therefore the local context and meaning of this one utterance of the Pyramid Texts completely coincides with the global context and meaning of all Pyramid Texts aimed to help the deceased king to depart safely for the next world and live forever.
